Membership Requirements Prospective members should be aspiring or interested venture capitalists with undergraduate degrees and if possible, financial, entrepreneurial, or technical backgrounds. Members are recommended to be under the age of 35. By establishing less stringent membership requirements, we hope to engage a membership base with focused interests, but diverse backgrounds. Ideally, this will enhance the membership base by including a variety of experiences and widening the possible types of contacts members can establish. Membership Benefits This forum should enable aspiring venture capitalists to connect with other potential deal-makers, industry professionals, and relevant players. Additionally, YVCS creates an infrastructure, which should strengthen a variety of tools necessary to be a successful candidate for the VC industry. In addition, the YVCS offers a number of resources and services to its membership base. Services including (and under construction) Visionaries - A monthly newsletter -"Visionaries" is a monthly electronic magazine emailed to members of the YVCS. The publication will include summaries of upcoming and past events, important topics concerning the venture community, news concerning society members, and finally a book and magazine review. Membership Directory - A Database of current YVCS members and YVCS Alumni- An interactive database of past and current YVCS members, the database allows interested parties to further increase their network of contacts. The Database of Knowledge (DOK) - The best practices of industry professionals, venture capital firms and related organizations are organized and contained in an accessible database. The database gives a brief synopsis of how a multitude of problems were solved. In addition, in some cases it will provide contact information to the YVCS members who had to confront the original problem. YVCS Resume Book- As we are often approached by venture funds for candidates, members are given the opportunity to provide their background information. In the past, our suggestions and recommendations of candidates have placed members in interviews.
